Dad leads daughter stricken by Mitochondrial disease in a touching dance

DALLAS, Ga. — Eighteen months after McKenzie Michelle Carey was born in April of 2002, she was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease, which leaves her body’s mitochondria unable to sustain and support life-growth. Sister station WTVR found that her condition didn’t keep her from dancing with dad, Mike, on stage for a summer pageant.

Mike danced beautifully with McKenzie to Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” in the video above.  Even though her disease damages cells of the brain, heart, liver and skeletal muscles, you can see her happiness radiate . To learn more about her story, click on this link.
