ST. LOUIS — An 18-year-old man who reportedly asked his friend to shoot him in the head at point-blank range has died.

According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Matthew Pellegrini, 18, along with Kevin Beindorff, 21, and another unidentified person were in a vehicle outside Beindorff’s home around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, when Beindorff revealed a revolver. That’s when police said Pellegrini asked Beindorff to shoot him in the head.

Beindorff reportedly raised the gun to Pellegrini’s forehead and pulled the trigger. Beindorff then drove Pellegrini to an area hospital where doctors removed him from life support Thursday morning.

Beindorff had first been charged with first-degree assault and one count of armed criminal action, however charges were upgraded to second degree murder and armed criminal action Thursday, February 23.

Beindorff remains in jail on a $300,000 bond.
