KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A street robbery in Kansas City’s old northeast neighborhood Tuesday morning has become a homicide investigation after police say the victim died at the hospital.
According to police on the scene, right before 5 a.m., Corey Walls, 35, was walking down the street near St. John and Cypress when another man approached with a handgun.
Police say Walls was shot in the torso and sent to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The gunman ran off with some of the man’s property.
Police were initially calling the incident a street robbery, but it was upgraded to a homicide investigation when the Walls died at the hospital.
No suspect description has been given.
